POWDER COATING
WET SPRAYING
WHAT IS POWDER COATING?
Invented and patented in 1945, powder coating is a process that involves electrostatically applying a dry powder to an item and then baking It at a high temperature to cure.
Powder coating provides a tougher, more durable paint finish than wet spraying, and is used to coat many metals, providing they can withstand temperatures of over 180°c.
POWDER COATING’S FOR THICKER AND INCREDIBLY SMOOTH FINISHES
Because there is no liquid in the paint, the paint finish can be thicker than conventional coating, without there being any potential for running or dripping, and allows for a much smoother and more even paint finish.
APPLYING POWDER COATING WITH PRECISION IN THE BOOTH
Once your metal has been prepared for powder coating, it is carried into the booth, and then the powder is applied to your product with an electrostatic gun. The gun provides a negative charge to the powder and forces it forward via filtered, compressed air.
FROM APPLICATION TO OVEN AND COLORS IN POWDER COATING
Once the coating has been applied, the product is moved down the tracking and into the oven to be baked. It is possible to powder coat to most standard RAL colours, whilst certain pantones and BS colours may be available.

WHAT IS WET SPRAYING?
Wet Spraying is the conventional method of using a water or solvent based liquid paint, which is sprayed onto your product with a compressed air gun.
WHEN TO USE WET SPRAYING
It is ideal for items that are heavy, large or are unsuitable for the temperatures required in powder coating.
Whilst the paint finish is less durable than powder coating, it still has longevity and protective qualities.
